Early in January 1999, the rebels in my country killed my parents... and my sister has been taken hostage. Till now amnot able to know if he is still alive or not, my late father Dr Gejero Simbaru, being the Managing Director of the Port of Freetown is a a prime target to kill.

I discovered a document indicating that my late Father had deposited some $8.5m United States Dollars (8.5M US dollars) with one of the countrys security agency in europe.... I try to locate the concerned security company... to make claims for the said money.

You mentioned in your recent email that you hope to receive refugee status soon, but in your first email you advised that you already have refugee status but need a foreigner to represent you. Please can you confirm the position with regards to your refugee status?

You also said that it might be possible for me to adopt you. I would be very interested in this proposal, as I have a very large family already and I feel sure that, assuming that both of us are happy with the arrangement, you would fit in very well.

I do not know whether you have considered this, but I expect that there will be considerable paperwork involved - I doubt that adopting a Nigerian refugee with $8.5m will be finalised in a matter of days. With regard to the payment of 1,600 euros requested by Oceanic Trust, what I would like to do is pay those fees after I've received 20% of your fund. I think Oceanic Trust may be agreeable to this if they knew that shortly I would be receiving $1.7m, but of course they do not know what is in the consignment that they are holding on your behalf. Would it be acceptable to you if I told them the contents of the consignment? I know we agreed to keep our transaction secret, and indeed I will, but I just want to let Oceanic Trust know that I will be able to pay their fees when we have completed all the arrangements.

No doubt your lawyer will charge for his services and this too can be taken out of your funds.

My family are very keen to meet you and they are all excited that soon we will have a new member. Today we held a 5 hour prayer session in your honour which involved the lighting of candles and some chanting. Unfortunately I was unable to be present, but members of my family have told me how spiritual the experience was for them.

I am so glad that the prayers my family are offering seem to be reaching you. They had another prayer session today and a printed copy of your passport was placed upon the altar so that they had a connection with you. Some members of my family have asked if you could send a recent photograph of yourself, as the one on the passport was quite small and you look very formal! Would that be possible? I know that they would be very happy to have another photograph of you which they could use during the prayer meetings. A photograph of you with the Reverend in the house where you are staying would be ideal.

The Finance Company have contacted me again today asking for the documents - they have no patience at all. I have told them that I will send the documents as soon as I have received them from you. Some of the prayers are in English, others are in Swedish - I wondered if you could practice chanting 'Beröm den lizard av älska', which, roughly translated, means 'Praise the lizard of love' - we believe that God is present in all living things, from the most insignificant worm to the mighty elephant and therefore any creature may be worshipped as being representative of Him. During July and August of this year, we are worshipping lizards. I have received your emails and documents today, but I have one or two concerns that I need to discuss with you before I forward the documents to Oceanic Trust. I have contacted Oceanic to let them know the position.

Firstly, the Power of Attorney:

(1) The attachment was called sweed.jpg. I assume that this is a reference to my Swedish origin. Not only is this spelt incorrectly and should be correctly spelt 'Swede', but I think that it is rather impolite to refer to me in this way, particularly as I will soon be your father. A little more respect would be appreciated.

(2) I have been referred to in the document as 'Nordjëht' , whereas this should be 'Nørdjëht' - you will note that my first name has an 'ø' rather than an 'o'. I am worried that this might invalidate the legality of the document, as it does not reflect my true name.

(3) The document appears to have been signed by the Principal/Donee and has been witnessed by the Commissioner for Oaths. However, I cannot see your signature anywhere on the document. Obviously the document needs to be signed by you to be valid.

I am sorry that these queries may lead to some delay in the proceedings, but it is very important that nothing goes wrong with our transaction. I suggest that you obtain a valid certificate from your lawyer that addresses points (2) and (3) above, or at least let me communicate with him to discuss the matter.

Secondly, the Certificate of Deposit:

I was very concerned when I received this, as (1) the email address used was ***@*** (rather than your email address), (2) the email was signed 'Jawaei' rather than 'Eåslee' and (3) the consignment number was stated as OTFGS/101/00/XX but when I was contacted by Oceanic they told me the number was OTFGS56129nl. This leads me to suspect that someone is aware of our dealings and is trying to impersonate you. I would be glad if you could confirm whether it was you who sent me the email attaching the Certificate, and, if it was, tell me why you used a diferent email address and did not use your new name. I attach a copy of the Certificate that I was sent for you to look at, in case it is a forgery.

This whole arrangement is starting to get very complicated and the involvement of the other email address has made me a little cautious. You mentioned that there would be a photographic session on Sunday and you would be able to send me a new photograph. I attach a sign stating 'I am Eåslee Daykénin, You are Nørdjëht Daykénin'. Please could you print this and hold it when you have your photograph taken. That way, I will know that it is genuinely you, as no-one else will have the sign. If you do not have printing facilities, please write the same words on a large sheet of paper or card and use that instead.

With regard to the mantra Beröm den lizard av älska, I suggest that you repeat the phrase 20 to 30 times after each meal during the day, with another chant just before you go to bed if you feel the need.

I look forward to your urgent response - hopefully we can get all this sorted out, I can collect the consignment and you can start a new life!

I am really sorry for this late reply. i have been sick wirth malaria and only was releived today and also went to church and am now checking for your mail to reply.i am aware that your mail would have been here since my last one to you.

about your mail query. the name for it was really sorry for that my dear father. i totally appologise for it and i did not know it should show in the attachment for you .I really sorry and i make sure i dont do it that way again. next time i will have my own name on it Eåslee. i am sure i have your fogiveness for that now and please write it to me so that i will not be bothered about
it again.

in your name i also noticed it and told the clark at the court when he called upon the secretary she said the word is not english and that the character 'ø' was not in the type writer and hence she had to use it that way. the clark now said if it was refuse at the situation i needed it i should come back for a covering letter from the court.

i have made asking about the need for my signature and what i was told was that the Principal/Donee signature was for my behalf that my status quo would need me not to do it.sir i want to plead with that i am not very resident here and i understand not alot of this legal situation.all i want is that as am being directed here i will follow.and also i hope that will be able to
conclude this situation in my life.if the finance house receives it and made askings them what is required i will them make for that application with what letter they will send too.

i do not have one lawyer yet all i got was a lawyer of government who directed and assisted me on what i have been done.the email that i sent it was done for me in the cafe where i had to attach the certificate. it was me and not anybody inpersinating me father. after i attached the power of attorney the certificate refused to attached because the file was too big to attached and the attendant whom i complained to had to send it from***@*** becasue it was from there that the file was able to attached.

for the numbers on the certificate i sent you and the number on the one the Oceanic sent you i will say you demand the director to explain it to you sir. i really do not understand it.sincerely i will say to you. the one i sent to you is it and the true one.

when i told the reverend that i need to have a picture with him he demaned what for and i told him and he refuse as he said he would not permit that. i could not tell ghim much but what i will say is that i will find a way to ensure to have a photograph with him and also send it to you as soon as i can.

I accept your apology regarding the attachment named 'sweed', although 'not knowing that it would show in the attachment' is not really any excuse for naming the attachment in that way. However, this is of little importance, as we have much more important matters to consider.

I am sorry to hear that the Clerk to the Courts typewriter is unable to cope with the letter 'ø', as it appears to be able to print the other non-English characters in my name. Anyway, I have today sent the Power of Attorney and Certificate of Deposit to Oceanic Trust (see copy below) - let's hope that they do not want to make an issue of the 'ø'/'o' situation. I have also demanded that the Director of Oceanic Trust explains to me why the consignment numbers are different, as you suggested.

Do not be concerned about the Reverend's reluctance to have his photograph taken with you, I can understand that perhaps he considers this an unusual request. A photograph of just yourself holding the document that I sent to you will be absolutely fine - I look forward to receiving it soon!

You referred to me as 'dear father' in your last email and that truly brought tears to my eyes. Hopefully everything will be sorted out soon - I hope you are chanting the mantra!

I have now resolved certain queries with Eåslee and I am pleased to be able to send you the Power of Attorney and Certificate of Deposit. However, I need to draw your attention to two matters:

Power of Attorney: I have been referred to in the document as 'Nordjëht' , whereas this should be 'Nørdjëht' - you will note that my first name has an 'ø' rather than an 'o'. This slight error has been caused because the Clerk to the Court's typewriter is apparently unable to type the letter 'ø' as it is not English. However, it seems quite capable of producing the letters 'ë' (in Nørdjëht)and 'é' (in Daykénin). If this is going to cause any problems from a legal point of view, please let me know and I will ask Easlee to obtain a new certificate.

Certificate of Deposit: The consignment number on the Certificate is stated as OTFGS/101/00/XX but when you contacted me on 24 June 2005 you advised that the number of the consignment was OTFGS56129nl. I demand that the Director of your company explains this discrepancy to me. Are there two consignments with different numbers? If so, I would like you to advise me of the precise description of each.

I think you have misunderstood my previous emails concerning the payment of the fee. Obviously such a large sum of money will be in a locked box and I would not expect for one moment that you would be able to open it yourself and take the processing fee! If you care to read the email again, what I actually said was:

With regard to the fees of 1,600 euros, I can advise you that the consignment that you are holding on behalf of Eåslee is a deposit of $8.5m (eight and a half million US dollars), of which I will be paid a 20% share when my transactions with Eåslee are complete. I will then be able to pay the fees - I suggest that any invoices are settled once I have received my payment from Eåslee.

What I was suggesting was that I would pay you the fees after I had received the consignment. I propose that I open the box on your premises and pay you the fees that are due. I would also be prepared to pay you a little extra for the inconvenience of having to wait. I look forward to receiving your agreement that this is acceptable.

On another matter, I tried visiting your website today but was surprised to find that it was 'still under construction'. I assume that this is because it is a new site that is being designed - do you have the address of the current one which I could visit?

Have you managed to have your photograph taken with the sign that I sent to you? My family are very anxious to receive it as they want to use it when praying.

Please excuse the chanting in the background - I had to ask one of my family to close the door when I was recording it! There is no need to worry - everything is fine. However, I am a little concerned that Oceanic Trust have not responded to the email I sent them nearly a week ago. I have sent them a reminder today. Perhaps you could send them a reminder from your end - I do not think they realise how important this matter really is, but of course I cannot go into details with them.

I am very sorry that I have not been in contact - I have had some business to attend to and also some of the lizards that we have been worshipping escaped from their cages and hid in the altar and also in the cracks around the top of the ceiling in the prayer room. It has taken me and members of my family almost a week to catch them all - and a few are still missing. I wish you had already joined us, so that you could help with trying to find them. I attach a photo of one of them on the wall just before it was recaptured - they run very, very fast! I have also been trying to find somewhere that will supply us with a couple of anteaters ready for the prayers from September onwards, but this is proving very difficult. Do you have any in Sierra Leone? If so, perhaps you could bring some with you when you join us?

Have you been able to listen to my voice yet? I'm very much looking forward to receiving your voice message saying the mantra (and also your photograph holding the document I sent you). Is it possible that you could give this matter your urgent attention? Some of the members of my family are asking when they can see a larger photo of you!

Keep chanting the mantra and hopefully things will start moving onwards again - I must look for the other lizards now.

Good Day to you, Eåslee - how are you?

I am a little concerned as I have still not heard from Oceanic, although they did explain the last time that there was a delay that they had a hectic schedule - you know what these finance companies are like! I have sent them a reminder today. You will see that I may have to travel to the UK soon, but I will try to keep in contact as best as I can whilst I am away.

Have you had your photograph taken holding the document I sent you yet? The family are asking me for it every day and I have promised that they will have one soon.

And now the surprise: I have taken the first step towards legally adopting you! The procedure for adopting non-Swedish Nationals is rather complicated, but the first step is that I have to register my intention with the Court in Sweden, who will no doubt issue much paperwork to both of us. Do not get too excited at this stage, as this really is the first step and there is a very long way to go.

However, I attach a copy of the initial application which I need to lodge with the Court. You will see that most of the details have been already completed and I have signed it. What I need you to do is:

(1) Print out this document
(2) Provide the name of your mother (I have advised the Court of your Father's details from the first email you sent to me)
(3) As you are over the age of 18, sign your name in the box to the right of my signature
(4) Scan the document and send it back to me with your mother's details and your signature completed (like you did with the Power of Attorney)

The Court will accept the scanned copy bearing your signature as the initial request, although it will be necessary for us to complete a more formal document later. I will lodge the application with the Court, who will then send us both various documents to complete.

I would be grateful if you could do this as soon as possible, as the sooner the Court receives it the sooner the adoption process can begin.
